Hey there,
I've been a bit absent so I just wanted to tell youse all what's up.
For the past couple weeks I've been spending most of my time working on a better physics based animation system. In Happy Wheels, you'll notice characters can only hold certain poses. More complicated animations such as walking, or picking yourself up, or climbing would be extremely difficult to do with box2d (the physics engine used by Happy Wheels) alone. With this additional system, assuming I figure it all out, it would be possible to have complex character animations that still interact with the physics world. It's been a pain in the ass, but I've made a lot of good progress.
Most likely, I would not be adding this system into Happy Wheels. Too much would have to change with the way the current characters are built. It's possible that, when finished, I might make a mini game to illustrate what's possible (was thinking a horrifically violent version of kung-fu). Further down the line, I might want to convert everything currently in Happy Wheels to this new system and possible make it a sequel. It's all speculation right now. It all depends on how things turn out, and possibly new things I discover.
Something that would be possible with the new system would be user contributed animations. Similar to how people submit levels in Happy Wheels, an animation editor would allow people to contribute character animations that could be applied to any character.
I'm excited about figuring this out, as it would allow me to do make some really retarded stuff. I'll still be making Happy Wheels characters and random things, but currently I'd like to make some headway with this new stuff while I remain motivated.

That sounds pretty cool, but i think adding walking to the game will make it too easy, however, i would love to see this incorporated into HW to allow deaths to look even more violent and painful, and maybe allow the character to crawl instead of doing a retarded shuffle along the floor.

Yea well I fail to see how an old man in a wheelchair would just get up and walk away,and the vehicles would get in the way,I think,that they should CONSIDER making a very light agile and strong character,but without a vehicle,then you could use them for ropeswings and some other shit

It's funny how the generation of noobs has changed here. Surely we were noobs, but we didn't go around ranting for more characters and make shit levels. Nowadays they don't appreciate what we already have, in 2010 we only had shapes, pin joints, and items. Noobs nowadays don't even appreciate what is in the game, they just want more. What happens when they get more? They shove it aside, say it's shit, and beg for more. It's disgracing!

I didn't really actually beg though just say stuff like 'It would be quite cool if there were some kind of character that would do this ect'. just thought that if everyone was doing it, why can't I? Until I realised that half the ideas were just shit I stopped.

lol^ When i was a noob, i listened to my real-life friend (who showed me HW). At that time, i thought he was the best HW player. Again, this is the first time i played the game. I decided to make an account, because all ma friend ever talked about was the editor. Then my friend quit HW. SO i came to the forums to ask questions (noob ones at that) and ask for level ideas. Most guys just trolled me. I never had an ccount before, so i thought "starway 2 hevan" was just them joking. Id never even heard of a troll. Over 2+ years i became me today. Man, do i hate noobs. NOOBS! GTFO! U NO GET KARAKTER!!!!

all i really want to consider you doing please is to at least make a couple more characters it would be cool if you could but for real id be exited if i found out there are more characters and a suggestion would be to make grim reaper or to make like a vehicles section in the editor that would be great and i seriously want to know how the fudge you thought of this game this is awesome or that would be awesome to make me as a charactar on here i would fuckin die if you did and thanks for all the work youve put into this game thanks 'fugicles

@fugicles Shut the fuck up, you can already make your own vehicles, and what would you do if Jim added more characters after your begging? I know! Beg for more, saying the exact same thing over and over. The only good thing that would come from you being made a character would be brutally murdering you on the game.

damnit!!!!!! still workin out the kinks it dont want to paste images for me uhhhhhhggg and PEOPLE SHUT UP YOU NOOBS THAT BEG FOR MORE CHARACTERS do you have any idea how long it takes to make a character and code it and make the sounds work and shit?!?!?!?? it takes for ever when you have a life and dont set on a computer your whole life!!!!!
