Hey there,
I've been a bit absent so I just wanted to tell youse all what's up.
For the past couple weeks I've been spending most of my time working on a better physics based animation system. In Happy Wheels, you'll notice characters can only hold certain poses. More complicated animations such as walking, or picking yourself up, or climbing would be extremely difficult to do with box2d (the physics engine used by Happy Wheels) alone. With this additional system, assuming I figure it all out, it would be possible to have complex character animations that still interact with the physics world. It's been a pain in the ass, but I've made a lot of good progress.
Most likely, I would not be adding this system into Happy Wheels. Too much would have to change with the way the current characters are built. It's possible that, when finished, I might make a mini game to illustrate what's possible (was thinking a horrifically violent version of kung-fu). Further down the line, I might want to convert everything currently in Happy Wheels to this new system and possible make it a sequel. It's all speculation right now. It all depends on how things turn out, and possibly new things I discover.
Something that would be possible with the new system would be user contributed animations. Similar to how people submit levels in Happy Wheels, an animation editor would allow people to contribute character animations that could be applied to any character.
I'm excited about figuring this out, as it would allow me to do make some really retarded stuff. I'll still be making Happy Wheels characters and random things, but currently I'd like to make some headway with this new stuff while I remain motivated.

jim if you read this i think walking is a great idea and i know about a few phys gens ones called Frostbite and the other is Geomod i think there may be one called splash damage but im not sure thanks for the awesome game!

Haha the one thiing id like in happy wheels is like... a way to climb up walls or the ability to only grab with one hand at a time... I'd really like that

Jim and Jason have already said that they will not be making a "skateboard guy", because a character on a skateboard would inevatably turn their body towards the screen to some degree, which is not possible in Happy Wheels as the characters are only seen in profile veiw. Also, the character would be seen standing on the skateboard, then after ejection would simply go limp, which would look retarded. Just forget the "skateboard guy" already. Nobody is even going to bother to read this are they...

@killercheese i read it. i think there wouldnt be a problem with a skateboar kid, but i hate it because noobs ask for it. Id rather have something fun, origanal, and somewhat gimmicky. I think there should be a new playable character called............piggyback dude.Its like a fat cowboy riding on the back of a midget.space will make him jump,ctrl will make you dash forward(its a relly fast midget)&c will make midget get taller for 10 seconds.when he is taller he can stomp & run over people.z-ing will make you and the midget go limp but pressing z again will make midget stand back up again.I hope you make this.

i like the minigame idea for the new engine i so 'no' to the new engine because, 1. more work for you, and 2. this might make happy wheels way too different from the original version and people may not like it as much, it is a risk to take but its like any game series as Halo for example, Halo: Reach played differently from any other Halo series cause of all the new stuff like the weapons, characters, and equipments like armorlock, some people liked these changes but alot of the people didnt, and sayed halo 3 was better and werent going to play the new item because that wasnt how it was originally played. Its all up to you man, thankyou for reading this post if you did, hope your successfull either way you go!!!! ;)

---READ--- There are tons of idiots that just rate every single new level that's made 0 or 1. I spent a long time on a really good rope swing level I made, and as soon as I published it, it was rated 0. Less than 10 seconds, and it was already rated 0. Jim, this may be a bit of a pain, but could you make it so that there's an automatic monitoring system? One that would monitor how often someone rates 0 and 1. What it could do is if say someone rated levels 0 or 1 5 or 10 times in a row. It could temporarily disable their ability to rate levels for.. 24 hours? I don't know, but I'm sure you could think of something. Thanks for taking your time to read this.

Actually, people only rate levels 0 - 1 because they are either bad, or they don't like it, OR, OR MAYBE UNORIGINAL. See: "Frequent Levels": http://www.happywheels.wikia.com/wiki/Frequent_Levels
