Very sorry for the long absence. Rereading the last post, I was a bit shocked at how miserable that made my situation sound. I shouldn't have left that up there so long. I may have been quite frustrated that day, but I AM IN FACT DOING SPLENDIDLY. I'm currently in Los Angeles, California for two weeks. I've eaten nearly 800 tacos. Yesterday we shot guns
. Before that I was in Portland for a week. I've never been to either, and decided to visit when Jason had some obligations over here.
As for the site... we are actually testing a new version Sean recently completed and will make the transfer once we're done. It looks the same, but the site will now be on a much stabler, more secure framework. Once that is done, it will be much easier to pinpoint inefficiencies in the database...which is the constant source of the site troubles.
I've been spending my own time creating a new version of Happy Wheels from scratch. At least, I assume it will be Happy Wheels. I'm learning c++ and opengl. It is fun to have something new and challenging, so I'm pumped to have something showable soon. I promise it will be awesome (if you liked Happy Wheels and my judgement hasn't expired). The plan is to sell a version of the game for $5-10. I think this will eliminate a lot of horrible levels from being created. I'd still like everyone to have access to the game though, so I will see about the possibility of releasing a free version eventually that doesn't include the level editor. Perhaps that could be in webgl. This is all very far off and just speculation.
Probably the most exciting part of this news post for myself is that I will have a booth at PAX East next March in Boston. I actually can't wait, but I suppose I am forced to. I missed my chance to do this several times before due to stupidity. It will be wonderful to leave my mother's locked basement and meet anyone who has played Happy Wheels (as this is actually very rare in real life). Just please, NO DIRECT SKIN CONTACT. Latex gloves will be available.

if you plan to sell the game put it up on steam maybe?
By Nick00110 on Nov. 13th, 2012 11:07PM
thinking about videogames......
you really need to look into the OUYA system! (if you haven't already)
here's a link to their website:
publishing happywheels to ouya would be really cool.
.....just another way to make $$$
By KryonTrevahr on Nov. 13th, 2012 11:31PM
If you do this I would highly recommend adding a multi-player support type system. I'm not really sure how, but it would be fun I'd think. Also, if you get a level sort system with categories and a flag as duplicate/scam button that would be great because flag as inappropriate doesn't apply to some situations that should be flagged. I may pay for those features if it happens.
By Bert on Nov. 14th, 2012 12:07AM
Great to hear from you Jim. I hope you're proud of my moderating skills! Seems like you had a good time away from home, and seeing that the site will be updated is great!
Oh, do moderators get the downloadable version for free? Only joking, it doesn't matter, I'd pay for it anyway. One other thing: Will moderators also be able to delete levels from the downloadable one too? I'd assume so...
By Douglass Cooper on Nov. 14th, 2012 12:43AM
Glad to hear from you again.
What exactly do you mean a new Happy Wheels? Is it like a sequel or something?

my messages dont work
thats annoying me now get it fixed
By TheAngryHomo on Nov. 14th, 2012 04:05AM
I'd buy it if it was on Steam and the servers wouldn't crash all the time. That would fix the crappy levels made by stupid 6-year old pissdiepie fans
By meztruo on Nov. 14th, 2012 04:26AM
you greedy bastard! hope that selling the full version will sink this shithole once for all.
kids has money to buy games, and it would not solve the thing. don't bullshit us dude, it would be necessary just to moderate the fucking levels, but hey you know selling the game will pump your pockets, so carpe diem
By The Resistance on Nov. 14th, 2012 06:19AM
Will the new HW be on a disc or bought over the internet?
By xXSUPERNOVAXx on Nov. 14th, 2012 06:22AM
okay have you noticed how little comments you guys have? because you took 4 months vacation and then got off your lazy asses to realise no1 likes the game anymore because u didnt keep us updated or anything.... i agree with meztruo your a bunch of greedy bastards.. you decide all the sudden yur gona make us pay £5 for a basic 2d game? fuck off. you rely think any1s gona do it? no!! they will not! your jeprodising your carreer and every1 elses that you work wth think about it before you do anything retarded
By yomoma on Nov. 14th, 2012 08:10AM
Thanks for the post, Jim. I have been here for a couple years now and love Happy Wheels. Through all the crap this site has been through, I have still played the game.
I implore you to reconsider making us pay for this new game. Happy Wheels is great because it was a simple yet amazing *FREE* game. If you require people to buy this one, it may slow the crappy levels problem, but not stop it. Less people will play it if you do that
By meztruo on Nov. 14th, 2012 08:11AM
cause they KNOW that as little kids pays 20 dollars for minecraft, they will pay for happy wheels too. i guess jim understood that the game is ruined (of course, zero moderation in months, the forum closed, even messages to cut to zero the work for admins, if they ever existed) and he is trying to get all the possible money before it closes down. bah.
you should be grateful for the money made till now with advertisings on the site, you greedy jew.
By Evan072299 on Nov. 14th, 2012 08:14AM
You retards meztruo & xXSUPERNOVAXx! If little kids buy the game, they will not interfere with anyone else! Neither will anyone else. No one interferes with anyone. Jim's doing all he can to try to stop problems. If you think you can handle a website like this, I'd like to see you TRY. Also, Jim said it would eventually be free
Also, if you create this new purchasable version, will you still keep the old version here? I almost NEVER play levels and I'd hate to lose the level editor!
By maksmeister9 on Nov. 14th, 2012 08:23AM
horrible levels are fun! and they will be elimanated then this game will be boring
By meztruo on Nov. 14th, 2012 08:32AM
@evano do you even blowjob jim sometimes?
OF course he wouldn't keep the old version here, to obligate people to purchase the full version. that's the gratitude for the 2 millions fans.
By foxial on Nov. 14th, 2012 09:59AM
I like the idea of paying for Happy Wheels and I'd totally pay (cause what do you lose when you pay 5-10 bucks ONCE IN YOUR LIFE for endless fun? seriously) but since some people don't get that I think there would be an dramatically smaller amount of people playing anymore so I think you should reconsider...
In my opinion the game is quite perfect as it is, if the problems with the site not working are fixed (and of course more stuff added into the game :D).
Horrible levels made in 5 seconds can be avoided by searching levels by rating, there's always something good... or maybe in the level editor should be some kind of time limit thingy, like, you must spend at least 45 minutes on making the level or something like that... I'd like it!
By Skimopie on Nov. 14th, 2012 10:29AM
Please don't make us pay for this game x_x
You'd make me and lots of other fans all sad face and what not.
By theshywillraindeath on Nov. 14th, 2012 10:54AM
Things are sounding pretty funky over here...
By Aaron404 on Nov. 14th, 2012 12:50PM
Please dont sell the game for money, maybe you could just sell the level editor and not the game, so the game stays free, but you need to pay for the level editor if you want to make your own levels, please dont sell the game, some people dont even have $, they have £, like me.
By Cartman28279 on Nov. 14th, 2012 12:57PM
That's definitely a good idea to release it on Steam, considering it would make things easier when purchasing. Hopefully this will happen.
And Jim, I can't wait to hear more about the new version of Happy Wheels, and I'd love to see some gameplay sometime soon showing us new features you've added and what not.
By TheAngryHomo on Nov. 14th, 2012 1:34PM
Looking at these comments, it seems like these kids don't get enough weekly allowance to put 5-10$ for a good game
By MYSTERIOUSMUFFIN on Nov. 14th, 2012 1:42PM
i think that your are supposed to shoot the dude in that picture!
By Jim Bonacci on Nov. 14th, 2012 1:52PM
Meztruo, thanks so much for the anti-semitism. You are an uninformed asshole who doesn't know what he's talking about.
First of all, the reason Happy Wheels is free is because it is a flash based game. People "pay" for the game through ad revenue. You have to watch a goddamn 15 second commercial every time you open the game.
The new game will be developed in c++. I am completely limited by Flash, and this will allow me to make whatever I want. I'll be able to add in fire and tons of other effects/features I've always wanted to that weren't possible before. It will be real software, improved in every way, and without ads. You can't just plop that shit onto a website and have it working in browser with ads. If I could, I would. I don't even know if I'd be making more money than I do now. With a smaller audience, who knows. If I do manage to make the same amount, the free version is guaranteed to be released.
Second of all, The site is not dying and will remain up and free for as long as I can afford it ($4000 a month). Traffic hasn't gone downwards in the 2 years the game has been up. I didn't cut the forum and messages to give mods an easier task. I cut them because the site was built on shit and they were crippling it further.
Third of all, IT'S JUST ME WORKING ON THE GAME.
You apparently have spent plenty of time playing Happy Wheels for free. For someone who has played it this long, you are surprisingly disrespectful to the person who supplied you with what I would assume was an enjoyable time. If you really feel you don't owe me anything for my development time, then pirate the game when it comes out. I haven't asked you for shit. You are not obligated to buy the new version or support my game development, and I hope you do not.
Bert, all that talk will have to wait as I don't know what will change within the game over time.
And to everyone mentioning steam... yes, I'd love to have the game on steam.
By Douglass Cooper on Nov. 14th, 2012 2:00PM
One question.....who gives a fuck if some youtubers play this game?
By TomSutton on Nov. 14th, 2012 2:16PM
I would probably buy the game as long as you keep adding content.
Adding a minimum shape count could lower some of the shit maps.

By Lewleworange on Nov. 14th, 2012 2:50PM
what about people who don't live in the usa, who don't have dollars, like people in the UK? how much would they have to pay? would they even get this new game at all?
By SHUSI_KING on Nov. 14th, 2012 3:03PM
hi! please! pleasepleaseplease! fix the website :) i can nearly log in any more, and when i do, i can play for about 5 minutes, and then headache puppy from hell appears :( no offense, i like this game, it's just so sad that the website/server (i don't know computers) destroy the impression! please fix it!
By JehutyNinja on Nov. 14th, 2012 3:55PM
Not sure if this even matters to you at all, but a buddy and I get high quite a bit and play Ghost Train pretty much every time we smoke.
Not that I don't play it sober. I do. I find the game hilarious, when it may not be, but oh well, good times are had.
By Scuby on Nov. 14th, 2012 4:09PM
I read your comment and saw how much the website costs... But you should still add purchasable content.
By LWPeterson on Nov. 14th, 2012 4:14PM

Are you serious guys? He releases a new post about how he's working on stuff and getting things done, and you guys say he's lazy and everything? He's been working to create a better Happy Wheels! He's been working hard FOR YOU, and you guys just tell him he's lazy and complain that you have to pay pocket change for a new Happy Wheels that Jim is putting TONS of work into. I'm glad you kids aren't going to buy the game; I won't have to listen to you whine and cry about things.

ahahah wait, are you REALLY jewish?
By ms63129 on Nov. 14th, 2012 5:40PM
Sorting by rating doesn't always work; ever notice all of the "STOP THIS" / "GLITCH" levels there are? It's not just some people thinking that levels that put you into a box and tell you that you will be free if you rate 5 are cool (others are rants against them, some text and a platform); I always see them getting far more votes than any other level and they are good votes (never mind that I give them 0 stars when I see them, they still have like 4 stars with dozens of votes 10 minutes after being put up). Do that many people seriously believe that rating a level 5 stars will do something magic, especially after the first time? Or is it a robot that is rating them?
As far as having to pay for the new version, I'd like to see a no level editor version for free as well, or perhaps additional characters in the paid version (beyond what there is now, or at least keep pogostick man). Although I'd be happy with the online version, ads or not (and don't you make more money from ads anyway than selling a game once to each user?).
By MYMOM234 on Nov. 14th, 2012 7:00PM
Jim, your plans sound awesome, cant wait for a site that runs well. Good luck!
By iAlien160 on Nov. 14th, 2012 7:30PM
Thank you Jim.
I wish you luck with the new game or version of Happy Wheels.
As too Meztruo: What the fuck are you complaining about? You play this game all the time, and you must like it, otherwise why are you playing? So telling Jim that, just makes you a fuck. Just shut up, and if you hate Jim, leave the game. Simple as that.
By IAmVeryBored on Nov. 14th, 2012 7:33PM
Pay $5-10 for an update on a free game? RIIIIIP-OOOOFF. I came here to have fun and be creative (and random), NOT to be ripped-off. I know it's a pain in the ass for this update (if it is), but at least don't make us want to throw the computer out of their window.
Pay $10 to play Happy Wheels?
You would be causing SO MANY problems. I just know it. You'd be news.
Here's something COMPLETELY off topic. All I want is something that will get rid of those fake glitch levels. Maybe a system that records a movie of the public level that looks like it could be breaking the level rules. The movie would show someone doing absolutely nothing. Then, you can judge whether to keep, or to delete the level. A list of those levels would be kept in a list that only you can access.
By commandments on Nov. 14th, 2012 8:34PM
I would most definitely pay $10.00 for Happy Wheels. I think you deserve money, you've earned it. You are sitting on a goldmine, start mining the gold.

By ReviewGuys47 on Nov. 14th, 2012 9:08PM
That would be awesome. I would probably buy it. The people that are saying they think it's stupid are saying it because they are either cheap or worried the payment from different countries won't work.
And why not do it if it adds more bonus content like Jim says. Like fire? How many levels have you seen about new stuff? LOTS! My thoughts --->
Better game = Better pay
By MYMOM234 on Nov. 14th, 2012 9:23PM
@LWpeterson My thoughts exactly....
By The Resistance on Nov. 14th, 2012 9:36PM
Excuse me, IamVeryBored, but, "be creative?" You released TWENTY "versions" OF THE SAME LEVEL. And anyways, it's $5-10. Not $10. He's getting money from this game, so he might have enough to lower the cost to $5. For a game that somebody has spent years on, (as opposed to most console/PC games...) $5 is extremely cheap.
By Maquark on Nov. 14th, 2012 10:03PM
you dumb little shits piss me off. this game is outstanding and i always thought of it as an insult to himself for making it free. hard work should be compensated for. a million bucks says not even half the people that play this game haven't made a donation. pay up.
By peterson616 on Nov. 14th, 2012 10:11PM
it would be a good idea to buy it but maybe that would only unlock the map editor and maybe get a character(s)no one else could get unless they buy it. or give the people that you have seen making very good maps like a VIP sorta thing where they wouldnt need to buy it to be capable to make maps. just a thought though cause i wouldnt buy a flash game for 5-10 bucks no matter how good it is. plus i never even use map editor
By CAPSlock3R1 on Nov. 14th, 2012 10:30PM
I do not think making people pay for Happy Wheels is a good idea. I think most of the game's success came from it being free. If I were to pay for any version of Happy Wheels, I would pay for a completed, finished version with all of the characters, level features etc... I think adding some kind of "flag/report level" feature would work better than getting rid of the level editor altogether.
By K1ngKAOS on Nov. 14th, 2012 10:55PM
Jim, just fix your damn game...
